Smile Stories: Before and After Smiles...
Operation Smile's volunteer medical professionals travel around the world to treat children suffering from facial deformities. Their efforts mean new smiles for thousands of children, including these former patients:
The Philipines - Louie
Davao del Norte, a small rural village in the Philippines, is home to Louie Lomocso. Louie was born with a clubfoot, deformed right hand and a facial deformity known as an encephalocele. With only his blind father to care for him and his two sisters and brother, there was little hope that Louie’s family could afford the expensive and complicated surgery that would help him look like the other children in his village. At the age of 10, Louie was brought to Brisbane by Operation Smile Australia for surgery to repair his facial deformity.
Thanks to a tireless team of volunteers Louie now knows how it feels to be like other children, and he can’t keep the smile off his face.
